Plastic Edition - What This Means

The Plastic Edition uses a plastic turret, hull, tracks, and wheels in place of the metal components found on the Full Metal Edition. The metal barrel, torsion bar suspension, and all V3 electronics remain the same. The ideal entry point into Taigen RC tanks - same experience, lower price.

The Real Tank: WWII History

The Tiger 1 was a game-changer from the moment it first appeared on the battlefield in 1942. Armed with the 8.8cm KwK 36 gun, it could destroy any Allied or Soviet tank at ranges where return fire was nearly impossible. Over 50 tons of armor and firepower, it was the tank every Allied commander feared most and every German crew wanted to command.

At the Battle of Kursk in 1943 - the largest tank battle in history - small numbers of Tiger 1s held defensive positions against overwhelming Soviet forces, destroying dozens of enemy tanks while sustaining minimal losses. Stories from both sides describe the Tiger's psychological impact as much as its physical one. The mere report of Tigers in the area could halt an Allied advance.

More than 1,300 Tiger 1s were produced between 1942 and 1944, and they claimed over 1,500 enemy tanks and vehicles before being succeeded by the King Tiger. Its advanced features - interleaved road wheels, the powerful Maybach engine, and the devastating 88mm gun - influenced tank design worldwide. The Tiger 1 remains the most recognized and studied tank of World War II.
